"Finwë was King of the Noldor. The sons of Finwë were Fëanor, and Fingolfin, and Finarfin; but the mother of Fëanor was Míriel Serindë, whereas the mother of Fingolfin and Finarfin was Indis of the Vanyar. "
(J.R.R. Tolkien "The Silmarillion")

Aaah, oooh. I guess it must be the fiery Feanor Curu-Finwe who's refusing to play with his younger brothers (well, you never see the sisters anyway...), probably standing right in front of a painting of Miriel. "That is my REAL mom." Ah, poor Finwe. For me he is one of the most tragic persons in Tolkien's works.
Nicely done picture of things. I really like Feanor's refusing expression.

This is an excellent depiction of Feanor's inner conflict. I also enjoy your other works related to the Noldor.

Regarding the accuracy of sibling ages in elvish family portraits, it just occurred to me how sad it is that these guys would not have experienced childhood together. Shared experiences in childhood are a powerful bond, especially when you are close in age. (Feanor's twin sons would be an obvious exception to this.)

Depicting the children of Finwe as close in age, is to put the elvish circumstances into terms that we mortals can relate to. It is superb!

As many people have already said, Miriel's tapestry is of great significance in this picture. Everything about it is perfect, and meaningful.

Thank you for your long comment :)
I've been thinking on the age of Finwe's children. Finally I decided I will draw them with not too big age difference.
I'm happy that you like the idea of Miriel's tapestry.

This is lovely. I love how Feanor is standing in front of Miriel's tapestry.

Such wonderful colours and shades. :) And the details, such as in the clothing, and the tapestry, too.
Although the ages aren't rightfully canon, I think this is a very good idea.Fëanor's expression is just great. And how he stands by his mothers picture. Out of the room but stol close to the others, as if he just wants Finwë to notice his feelings, and still not.
Very sweet picture, although sad.

I was thinking a lot of on the ages, but I can't decided, how old are in this time Feanor and his brothers.

This is an amazing picture, so full of meaning and emotions. You captured the conflict in Fëanor acutely, I think he looks torn between sour and sad. The details are wonderful (I especially like Míriel's portrait behind her son), an all around successful work.

Thanks for the kind words.
I'm happy that you noticed Míriel behind Feanor. This tapestry is a selfportrait at her wedding. I wanted show in one picture the king's "old" and "new" family.
